Tax Information
General Information
The Township collects the following taxes from property owners, residents, businesses, and those working within the Township.
Amusement Tax
The Amusement Tax rate for the Township is set at 5% of the admission charge to certain places of amusement, entertainment, or recreation. The Amusement Tax is collected by the appointed tax collector, Jordan Tax Service.
Earned Income Tax
The Earned Income Tax (EIT) rate for the Township is set at 1% on the earned income of Township residents, regardless of where they work. EIT is collected by the appointed tax collector, Jordan Tax Service, and distributed equally between the Township and the West Allegheny School District.
Local Services Tax
The Local Services Tax (LST) rate for the Township is set at $52 per year for everyone who works in the Township, including those that are self-employed. People who earn less than $12,000 per year are exempt from the tax. LST is collected by the elected tax collector, Thomas Falcioni, and distributed between the Township and the West Allegheny School District. Of this amount, the Township receives $47.00, and the School District receives $5.00.
Parking Tax
The Parking Tax rate for the Township is set at 5% gross receipts from all financial transactions involving the parking or storing of automobiles or other motor vehicles in outdoor or indoor parking lots and garages situated within the Township. The Parking Tax is collected by the elected tax collector, Thomas Falcioni.
Real Estate Tax
The Real Estate Tax is assessed by the Township, Allegheny County, and West Allegheny School District on all property, whether vacant or developed, located within the Township. Real Estate Tax assessed by the Township and the School District is collected by the elected tax collector, Thomas Falcioni. Real Estate Tax assessed by the County is collected by the Allegheny County Treasurer’s Office.
Realty Transfer Tax
The Realty Transfer Tax (RTT) rate is set at 1% of the value of the property being transferred. RTT is collected by the Allegheny County Department of Real Estate and distributed equally between the Township and the West Allegheny School District.
