This Summer at the Western Allegheny Community Library is going to be WILD! Last year was the Summer Learning Program's inaugural year and it went fantastically well! In our second year, we're ramping up the fun to even higher levels. More camps. More mess! More art! More action! More opportunities to learn, have fun and discover! We're even offering a preview of the kinds of things we're doing: on Saturday May 20th the library will be abuzz with science and art programs for all ages so you can see what summer at the library will look like. The Carnegie Science Center will be here for some amazing programs all day long. Check the online calendar for details!

The 2017 “Click It or Ticket” Seat Belt Enforcement Mobilization will take place from May 15 - June 4, 2017. Over 315 Pennsylvania Municipal Law Enforcement Agencies and thousands of police departments across the nation will be taking part in the mobilization. Law enforcement agencies will focus their time and resources in the areas where we have the best chance to increase seat belt use:
• Nighttime Occupants
• Occupants and Drivers between the age of 18-35
• Pick-up Truck Drivers
• Roadways experiencing the highest numbers of unbelted crashes/fatalities.
During the Mobilization Pennsylvania will join 24 other states in participating in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Border to Border Seat Belt Enforcement Operation.

The NFPD is hosting a ladies firearms course which covers basic firearms types, proper handling, storage options, safety principles, maintenance and liability concerns.
The dates are Saturday May, 13th and Saturday May, 20th. This is the same class each Saturday so pick which one works better for you. We will start at 9:00 AM at the North Fayette Community Center banquet room upstairs. We are there approximately 1-1 ½ hours, then move to the firing range, which is a half mile away on Donaldson Road. All firearms and ammunition will be provided, if you have a firearm you would like to shoot bring it with you and you will be able to use it after the initial class. Coffee and donuts are provided in the morning and we will be cooking lunch at the range. We are finished between 1:00 and 3:00 pm, if you need to leave earlier let me know that day and we will arrange to have you shoot first. The cost for the class is $20. Email Sgt.
